Alentejo, Portugal

Estremoz is where we have spent our holidays since childhood. We grew up building fond memories of Alentejo’s sun-baked landscapes of cork trees, whitewashed villages, vineyards and olive groves.

We have renovated this house, which was built in 1939 and then acquired and kept it in the family for three generations, with our friend and architect João Cassiano Santos who preserved the lines and the soul of the place, so that guests could share the same joy that we have always had there.

A casa de Estremoz

The house is recognized by its four chimneys, white thick walls and concrete floors. It can accommodate up to 10 people (6 adults and up to 4 children or 8 adults). There are 3 rooms with king size double beds, each with its own toilets and local white marble showers surrounded by hand made tiles, and a mezzanine room with a queen size bed and 2 single beds which is ideal for children. A fourth social bathroom is also available. A fully equipped kitchen opens to a large living room with a fireplace and a large window facing an oak cork forest. Outside, there are three hot water showers that you can enjoy while watching the nature (or the stars at night). The 11 x 5m swimming pool with a large deck is just a few steps away.

    Food and Wine

“Alentejo is rapidly becoming one of the top wine destinations in the world” – New York Times.

There are many great restaurants close by but with a chef’s kitchen and great ingredients you’ll be tempted to cook at home.
